It is easy to assume that ELL children do not need ‘extra’ support when they enter kindergarten. After all the K program is so play based and language-rich… .and children pick up the language so easily, right??  Wrong !!

Without strategic and explicit language support we would be creating learners with huge face-to-face fluency in English AND equally large gaps in their more academic language development.
